I'm shooting all my Johnny Paychecks at you with my t-shirt bazooka. Let's do this!

Holy smokes, those are some formidable Johnny Paychecks. They already called to see what I'd want for an offer.

Is that a complicated process in sales? Because you have your base, but presumably also various types of commission based on your numbers?
  • LefunesteLefuneste Posts: 4,436
And that's only Eric's paychecks! Now you're getting mine too, it's a sure thing.

Maybe you should hit a casino?

    T-shirt bazooka?! Please dansplain.
  • captqitncaptqitn Posts: 2,206
Lets say you want to give someone a commemorative t-shirt but they are 300 feet away. (91.44 metres). What are you going to do... WALK OVER TO THEM?! no. You shoot the t-shirt at them with a t-shirt bazooka. (see GIF above)

    Aaaaah! Ok.

Say the person is one meter away (about 3.3 feet) and one shoots the t-shirt bazooka in that person's face... Would that seriously hurt the person?

The offer? Barely more complicated than in any other industry really
  • Jurf_WurburJurf_Wurbur Posts: 3,189
If things go passably, I'd make 7-10% more over my first twelve months than I made last year. More likely, I'd make 40-50% more. I could max out at 80% more.

There's only one way to find out.

That's kinda what I mean. In my line of work, I could tell you precisely what my payrate differential would be from one job to the next.

7%-80% is a fairly wide open zone. But I'm glad that it's all in black ink.
  • Jurf_WurburJurf_Wurbur Posts: 3,189
Fairly wide open zones are part and parcel of working in sales. One of the best and worst things about it.

My base is more than double what it was before though, so the overall volatility will be much lower. I think I mentioned before that my previous job had traps set up in the comp plan that let them cut your commissions by 10-50% if you didn't make certain metrics... even if you had made quota. It was some tricksy bullshit.

Nothing's official until it's official, but I am hoping to sign on Wednesday.

I will continue to repeatedly bazooka you in the face at point blank range until we get confirmation.

    Good luck, Jeff!

And now for something completely different...

Climate-driven declines in arthropod abundance restructure a rainforest food web
Arthropods, invertebrates including insects that have external skeletons, are declining at an alarming rate. While the tropics harbor the majority of arthropod species, little is known about trends in their abundance. We compared arthropod biomass in Puerto Rico’s Luquillo rainforest with data taken during the 1970s and found that biomass had fallen 10 to 60 times. Our analyses revealed synchronous declines in the lizards, frogs, and birds that eat arthropods. Over the past 30 years, forest temperatures have risen 2.0 °C, and our study indicates that climate warming is the driving force behind the collapse of the forest’s food web. If supported by further research, the impact of climate change on tropical ecosystems may be much greater than currently anticipated.

    What's the weekend plans, y'all?
  • Jurf_WurburJurf_Wurbur Posts: 3,189
Pinewood Derby this weekend! Simon and I decided that trying to be fastest was a mug's game. So we're making an ice cream truck instead.
  • captqitncaptqitn Posts: 2,206
    Helll yes.

I’m going out with friends to see local music. One band has members from the band Margot and the Nuclear So and So’s if youins have heard of them. Tomorrow I’m going to another local show that has bands I’m really good friends with. It’s supposed to be bad weather but I only have to walk 900 feet to the venue from home. We are supposed to get ice and temps near 0

If you're making an ice cream truck, you must have ice cream truck music.
  • Jurf_WurburJurf_Wurbur Posts: 3,189
TOTALLY. There is a tiny Bluetooth speaker that will be playing "Pop Goes the Weasel."
  • LefunesteLefuneste Posts: 4,436
I am going to write down in my will that "Pop Goes the Weasel" must be played at my funeral.

That and "Flight of the Bumblebee". Or the "William Tell Ouverture".
  • moetownmoetown Posts: 1,515
I think Pop Goes the Weasel with a spring loaded, taxidermied you in clown face popping out of a box.

Somehow, despite having a double height, impeccably detailed ice cream truck that played fucking music, Simon lost the Most Creative contest and didn't win so much as a third place trophy. We're all pissed.
