So three years ago, they opened up a cafe inside our office call the Triple Nickel (because our address is 555 11th St).

It took me THIS long to realize that spoonerizes to the Nipple Trickle.

S____ is in Florida , so it's just me and tiny E.

Going to see Joyero (half of Wye Oak).

    Unsure of all else.

Nothing certain. Maybe we'll go dine at a new fancy Mexican restaurant that just opened nearby. Heard good things, it seems the tacos are to die for.

    Good tacos are important.

We just got a new spot not long ago and I appreciate that they have numerous "gringo" options (they are labeled that way). Most of their menu is authentic, but if you have a craving for a crunchy ass ortega shell ground beef taco with shredded cheddar and lettuce on top, they will hook you up.

(I guess this begs the question, why not just go to Taco Bell... the answer being this joint uses ingredients that are actual food and don't make you regret your decisions)

We're going to have some nice people over tomorrow for mimosas and children running around in circles. We'll probably see a movie too... we usually do. Maybe Mr. Rogers?

I've never eaten at Taco Bell. I don't remember seeing one in Montreal.

Ok, I've checked: there are three Taco Bells in the Montreal area, all in suburban areas, none in the city. That's why I've never seen one.

On the other hand, I have at least four, maybe five, restaurants serving some kind of Mexican food nearby, and when I say nearby, I mean I can walk to them in a reasonable amount of time. As far as I know, none are franchises.

The joys of living in the city!

I was in the kitchen making dinner and I was singing "Here Comes Your Man" to myself.

Me: You never wait so long
Simon, from the couch: So long, so long!

You guys, I think I may be pretty fucking good at this parenting thing.

I'm jealous. Little S. is going through a shit pop music phase.

By the way Jeff, are you implying that I'm to blame for my daughter's present poor taste in music? Are you saying that she likes shitty pop music because I'm a bad father? Uh?

To be honest, I am fully aware that based on his age, S____ is maybe six to eighteen months from becoming really into music and most of it will inevitably be shit I hate.

But for now, he likes cool stuff.

Hopefully, they will eventually see reason!

Now seriously: I mostly try to get out of the way. I occasionally get grumpy, though. A couple of days ago she was humming Wham's Last Christmas, a song I fucking hate. The damn thing is an ear-worm and it got stuck on repeat in my head. I let her know how much I hated the song.

My parents were indifferent to what I was into to the point of neglect. They just didn't give a shit. In a way, that was a blessing, as I was totally free to do my own thing.

I have this theory, which is mine, that every Republican member of Congress has kiddie porn on their computers and that Trump has evidence of it.

Mom: Do you need any new shirts or socks or underwear?

    Me: Sure! Yeah!

Mom: Why don’t you buy some?

Your mom is a thoroughly practical person. Thank the Lordy she's around, I mean, what would you do without her advice? You would go sockless and shirtless, that's what! Maybe even underweareless. Why, without her help, you could be walking around totally nude!
  • moetownmoetown Posts: 1,568
Yeah, what would I do without her?

I need one of these 'cause, you know, the few square meters in front of my garage (just enough to park one car) are too much of a hassle to shovel in winter.
