Jeff is in a Cubs bubble. I'm just a bit braindead after wedding week. Reconnecting with the world. Which appears to be all about guns and stuff.
Who's watching the debates tonight? I'm very curious. It's been all small bites from Clinton and Bernie so far. Looking forward to seeing who can sustain a longer train of thought.
hiyo. I've been busy doing freelance shit AND Grifters shit. We leave Thursday for Cinci, then Friday in Louisville, Saturday in Columbus, and Sunday in Nashville. Not looking forward to all the driving but it'll be nice to get out of the house and have a little working vacation. The show last Friday was pretty good. Not a huge audience but there was a lot going on this weekend. We added some songs to the set. Covered With Flies, Queen of the Table Waters, Eureka IV, The Want, and Felix Cole. All of which went over quite well with the audience.
I was hoping for an epiphany one way or the other.
That Bernie would either crush it or completely blow it. But I'm still in the purgatory of feeling unsure that a big enough chunk of American voters could ever get behind him.
I agreed with almost everything he said, which doesn't happen that often. So I WANT him to do it, I'm just still not sure that he can.
And, I also miss the more funhouse layout of the old crappity. The current layout feels more like a listserv. Also not a complaint. Just in case we were taking a vote. :2 cents emoji:
I don't mind this theme, but I tend to like stuff that looks very basic and functional. You should see my powerpoint presentations! X_X
However, I would appreciate it if we could custumize things a bit: bigger avatars, post signatures, a few custom smileys, that kind of stuff. If we could get back to some of the perks we had on the old board, that would be nice.
We've just seen The Martian. I enjoyed it, with a few minor gripes, but nothing major.
They stuck to the book, which was great, as Ridley Scott cannot be allowed to have too much control over a story. Everything looked great! Like, I have been looking at Mars pictures since I was a teenager, and I was impressed. I loved Matt Damon. Having Sean Bean discussing the Elrond Project was a nice touch.
Now, the complaining: I wish they had cast a less bimboish bunch of women. I mean, you had all kinds of guys in the movie, but all the women were skinny and attractive, with those somewhat bland good looks typical of Hollywood actresses. The commander particularly annoyed me: in my opinion, she wasn't credible, she lacked personality.
Of course, the book was better. But the book is nearly always better.
Anyway, as I said, minor gripes. I would warmly recommend the movie to anyone into scifi.
By the way, I don't know much about botany, but I do know that human shit has to be composted before being used as manure, usually for several months in a rotating drum. If you apply it directly, you may kill the plant.
If you've seen the movie or read the book, you'll know what I mean.
She didn't win the debate. Bernie Sanders won 68% in the MSNBC.com poll; Bernie Sanders won 55% in the Daily Kos poll; Bernie Sanders won 54% in the Time.com poll; and Bernie Sanders overwhelmingly won CNN’s own Facebook poll, not that you would know it from what the pundits were saying on CNN itself. CNN’s own focus group also said that Bernie Sanders won, and Fusion’s focus group said that Bernie Sanders won, and Fox News’ focus group said that Bernie Sanders won.
It's only the usual Democratic old guard columnists who say she won. Every other poll, focus group, etc. available says Bernie trounced her.
The HBO show about S______'s uncle started shooting yesterday. Don't know the details, but clearly they found a way around last week's... unpleasantness. Her aunt is attending the first few days of shooting. She is my favorite member of the family. Cocktail swilling foul mouthed Australian woman with a ripping sense of humor and heart of gold.
Finally watched the last Mad Max. The movie makes absolutely no fucking sense, and I could write a very long post on all the dumb shit in it. But it doesn't matter, 'cause I had fun watching it, in spite of all the dumb shit.
Anyway, if I had to describe this movie in a few words, I would call it a really long heavy metal music video.
The idea that this movie is shallow and doesn't really have anything to say is one Matthew shares, I think. For me, I disagree with that assessment so thoroughly, that I wouldn't know where to begin to start an argument about it. And coming from such a diametrically opposed viewpoint, I doubt I'd change your mind anyway.
Dude, I wouldn't mind hearing your opinion of it! I mean, I'm often wrong. By the way, I'm not saying the movie's not well made. It's very smartly made. But it's a typical action movie: dramatic effects are far more important than logic and story telling.
I got a surprise German dinner lined up for S______ tonight. No kids this weekend, so hopefully just laundry, drinking and fucking the rest of the time.

You guys endure years of this shit!
Maybe I'll watch that debate for a change of pace...

Tripp, don't forget about my t-shirt!

Are there other themes from this list you guys like better?

Have they already started saying that he's too angry and radical and blah, blah, blah?
