Let's all agree that whatever level of fear we are at right now, that we need to increase that amount by at least twofold.

So we got a closing date set of next Friday.

Immediately, this morning, our shower stopped working.

What is it with cars and homes where as soon as they know you're selling them, something breaks?

Get some patchouli and just ride out the week. It's somebody else's problem now.
  • Jurf_WurburJurf_Wurbur Posts: 3,403
There's a handyman fixing it now.

I just want to move into my new house, reinforce all of the doors and windows, and ride out the apocalypse in the basement watching movies. Is that so wrong?

I know you don't really mean that. I'm so frustrated at how poorly America chose that I'd like to just flip the bird at the universe and retreat into a cave.

but the fucking kids... they got me like "ughhhhhh... I guess I have to actually try to do something here. fuuuhhhhhh...."

I spun some Leonard Cohen after he passed and was surprised to realize that until that, since the election, I had only listened to music by black artists. Soul music for when I need hope, and hip hop for when I need defiance.

That last Cohen record is terrific by the way. It's his Blackstar, his "Well, if I'm going to die, I will write my own eulogy" record.

I just keep spinning the title track.

That one is great. The two after it, I probably like even better though. "Treaty" ... well, shit, you've been divorced. And "On the Level" has some amazing lyrics. "I was fighting with temptation... but I didn't want to win."

As you know, I'm not on facebook, but like 70% of Americans are. Now most people get their 'news' from facebook. I think that's a problem, and whether Zuckerberg admits it or not.

Agreed. I don't think there's anything intrinsically wrong with FB, they just are the biggest connection point. I think if MySpace were still dominant, it would also be filled with ideological echo chambers and fake news.

"Africa," but it gets faster every time they say "Africa."

The handyman fixed our shower, so I was able to bathe, which was nice.

My favorite cousin, Joyce, the one who is wonderful, but the poor thing is always sick (breast cancer, Parkinson's Disease, hepatitis C, multiple kidney transplants, some heart attacks, etc.) is having a rough week again. Her kidneys are failing and at this point, they're not going to give her another. She has to go on dialysis. They put in a catheter and she immediately had some issues and went to the ER. She's in the ICU.

Crappity has sent her a ton of PMAs over the years, but I really like her and would love a few more.

Consider them sent. Cheers to Joyce.

Why would anyone be against a recount? Thinking about it, there oughta be a rule that if the difference in votes is ___ % or lower, there is an automatic recount. Voting on machines is probably one of the worst things that ever happened to elections.

Just another symptom of the sad state of democracy in the US: the losers, whomever they be, know that the electoral system sucks, so recounts and protests are the natural consequence of defeat.

In Kenya, back in 2007, the losers of the presidential election rioted and accused the winning side of electoral manipulation, they almost went into a civil war.

Had the Trumpkins lost, they would probably be asking for recounts and rioting in the streets. I mean, President-elect W.C. Fields threatened he wouldn't accept defeat, 'cause the system was rigged, remember that?

If you remember though Dan, Trump WON and he was saying on Twitter that he wants a recount because millions voted illegally according to him and that explains why he didn't win the Popular Vote according to him.
