Howdy. About to head to work. Wednesday is when we get our big shipment of flowers so I have to drive out to Bartlett, pick up about 50 boxes of flowers, go back to the shop and delicately cut flowers in all day. Usually while listening to really bad modern music.

Can't you do anything about the music?

It's not just the Books of Face that suck ass. Bullshit peddlers use analytics to extract information from voter data bases to figure out whom to target with propaganda. Then they monitor, in real time, what happens in social media. And they mine all that data to produce new bullshit. In other words, drop a lie, watch how it spreads, and then target several generations of virtual cliques of rumor sharers across all social media platforms with new lies. Turbocharging the bullshit machine...all in real time.

Lets beseech the flying spaghetti monster for a Bolton testimony! The fuckers will still acquit, but at least we'll laugh a bit... And maybe that will cause President Shit-fer-brains to die of a rage-related aneurysm.

I have a few times taken control of 'the radio' at work. There used to be a girl that worked there named Lois who I miss a lot (she got fired) who loved to razz my ass all day. Everyone's asses really. One time I asked if we could listen to the ELO station (pandora) and man, she just gave me shit about it all day. Like my taste is SO WEIRD. So I was like I'm gonna make all yall mother-fuckers listen to YES all day tomorrow!
I didn't do that. I did try to get them to listen to Big Star once and the same thing happened. Tripp you only listen to weird stuff. Then they go back to listening to modern pop music? I guess is what it's called? I know all this modern shit now that I really wish I didn't.

Where do you guys stand on Rush? I forget.

Used to hate them when I was younger and snobbier. Now, there are Rush songs I really like. Fly by Night and Limelight are probably my favorites (killer riffs in those two), but I also dig stuff like Xanadu and Bastille Day. I tend to like 70's Rush, and don't much like anything after Moving Pictures.

By the way, it's a bummer that Neil Peart died.

Of course Big Star sounds weird, I mean, it has, like, real people playing electric guitars! And they sing without auto-tune!

I imagine that, in the old days, when rock'n'roll got big, jazz cats must have felt like we do now.

Anyway, I think it's unfair: if you have to regularly put up with their shit, they should have the decency of putting up with yours occasionally.

you might like this. Just now discovered it. Thanks youtube algorithm. Neil had only been in the band one month when this was recorded. So before he took over as lyricist. Maybe his debut with the band? Recorded live for a Cleveland radio station. Gotta say, they fucking rock their asses off.

I got off the bus around Grace Under Pressure but I always kept up with them, hoping they'd pull it out again. They did. Just through sheer longevity and for never being giant assholes. I checked out some late 90's stuff after I saw that doc. They always had moments but really I think I only really love about ten Rush songs. But I love the band. I feel like they're friends.

Their jammy moments are what drew me in. They always had good bridges.

I wasn't able to get into classic rock until my mid to late thirties. I haven't gotten around to Rush yet.

I'm in a phase of trying new stuff. Next time I cave and start digging I will make sure I hit Rush.

I like a few Rush songs. Back in high school, I had a lot of friends who rocked Rush in their cars. I listened to a lot of Rush in the 70s and early early 80s just because that's what people I was with were digging. I got to the point where I liked some of their songs. I thought that We are the Trees song was pretty funny. I goofed on that one quite a bit.

I've already saved just about enough to pay this year's property tax. I guess that means the water heater or the a/c is about to die.

I got an actual pain in my tummy.

I loved Rush in a classic rock radio way. Whenever one of their songs came on it would get cranked (and not yanked). By the time I was serious about collecting to and listening to full albums I was already getting snobby and alternative.

Over the past 10-15 years I've been correcting those blind spots, listening to stuff that was popular but was also genuinely good.

Unfortunately S_____ is allergic to Geddy's voice, so listening opportunities were limited.

On the day Neil passed, she was kind enough to make plans with friends so I could blast Rush all night at the house.

I played guitar hero a few times, but then I realized that the time I spent to get good at playing a song on it was comparable to the time I needed to learn to play the song on a real guitar...

I had a similar feeling when he was a kid. Bought him real instruments instead. But now that he's a musician, what the hell do I care.

What about the voice of Geddy Lee
How did it get so high?
I wonder if he speaks like an ordinary guy?
(I know him and he does)
    And you're my fact-checkin' cuz

Sure! And if one has never played guitar, and doesn't intend to, the game is loads of fun, because one doesn't need to go through the hassle of knowing chords and scales and shit, which takes at least one to two years of regular practice.

By the way, there are games out there that are similar to guitar hero that allow the player to use a real guitar: Ubisoft had one called Rocksmith. I played it. It was fun, but it had some problems with lag. Plus, I quickly figured that it can't replace actually slogging it off. Nevertheless, I wonder if there's something better out there now?

In 2016, I was told I was sexist for supporting the Socialist over the Centrist. In 2020, I supported Warren until she was hopeless then switched back to Bernie. And now I'm anti-Semitic... for supporting the Jewish guy.

I don't even understand politics anymore.

If anybody wants a little guide to Rush I'd be happy to help.
